It’s summer time and you know what that means – Y&L Summer Interns return!!!
This year we are excited to have new interns Riley, Rajat, Brandon and Elias already onboard and raring to go! It’s always a breath of fresh air to have young people buzzing around the office, asking questions, listening to different types music and thinking that our jokes aren’t funny. We all learn from them as much as they learn from us during this time.
We have tons of projects kicking off so there will be plenty for each of them to do in addition to learning things like programming basics, project management, contracts, salary negotiations, etc. Let the fun begin!
Rajat Monga just completed his Junior year at UTSA and has a major in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Computer Science. Rajat is getting in on the ground floor of a new project for the OCCC in Austin by which we will be working to convert their manual processes (both internal and customer-facing) to eBiz online processes. He will be learning about Project Management (planning, execution, monitoring, reporting and identifying issues) as well as interacting with customers and shadowing the development team. Rajat enjoys working out, basketball and rock climbing and is involved in various groups such as leading the recruitment committee for SAVE (Student Association Volunteer Effort).
Riley Blue joins us from Woodland Hills, California – just outside of Los Angeles. Riley just graduated from El Camino High School and will be attending the University of California San Diego. Her concentration will be Science. During high school she won a Scholastic Science Award and had a 4.3 overall GPA. For extracurricular activities, Riley is an avid Softball player and her high school team won the State Championship this year. Currently she is spending time learning about the various departments within the company (Sales, Recruiting, Operations, Contracts, Marketing, etc.) and is assisting our Contract Administrator with various tasks
Elias Uriegas is currently attending UTSA with a major in Economics and an minor in Computer Science and just completed his Junior year. He is currently involved in a Unifier project assessment for the City of San Antonio (COSA). Elias is assisting our Unifier Subject Matter Expert by taking meeting notes during client engagements and creating IT and Business process flowcharts. His classroom-based Java programming courses are coming into play in an active, hands-on learning of the Oracle Unifier software product which is based in Java. Elias has a strong appreciation for music (composing his own songs, singing, as well as playing the piano, guitar and saxophone) and is a HUGE Spurs fan.
Brandon Streeter joins us from Williamstown, WV for his summer internship with Y&L. As a recent high school graduate, Brandon will be attending Hocking College in the Fall. At Hocking he will be getting his Associates Degree in Music Management with a focus on music recording. From there he plans on attending Middle Tennessee State University for their Electronic Media Communication concentration to finish out his major. Brandon is an avid photographer and, during the winter, he can be found skiing on challenging black diamond slopes. Brandon is very musically inclined and can play the piano, guitar, trumpet and timpani and writes/records his own music. Brandon will be spending time this summer learning the business end of Y&L from an Operations, Sales and Marketing perspective.
